Happy October!

This month our kindergarteners and 1st graders have been reading some amazing books!

This month we learned about the season of autumn through the changing colors of fall leaves. We read the Leaf Thief and decorated trees with falling leaves!

We went on a Book Hunt to find just right books by learning the 5 finger rule of the Goldilocks Rules.

Students embraced our word of the month UNITY!

To celebrate Unity Week we read I Walk With Vanessa. To show that we are united in standing up to bullies students created a unity chain.

Students also learned how to identify the different parts of a book, such as

Students learned the difference between fiction and non fiction. We read a non-fiction book about growing pumpkins and a fiction story about pumpkins. Students decorated pumpkins!

To celebrate Halloween we read The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything. Students learned about scarecrows and labeled the parts of a scarecrow.
