This lesson was created for 1st grade, students will be able to use the 5 finger rule in order to pick out a just right book. Students will read a page of a book and hold up a finger on their hand every time they see a word they don't recognize or understand. If you have 4 or 5 fingers up, then the book is too hard. If you have 2 or 3 fingers up then the book is just right. If you have 1 finger up, then the book is too easy.
The librarian will read GoldiSocks and the Three Libearians, which explains the 5 finger rule. After, the students will get a coloring sheet based on the book. Then the students will search for a just right book.
